Happy Feet and... Heels?

As a teacher, you spend about 5 hours a day on your feet—and if you’ve got students with emotional or behavioral disorders, you need to be ready to sprint! You might just find yourself dashing across campus in a high-energy chase. The Frizzle Box will never include shoes for one reason. You need to find the most comfortable shoes for your feet while you teach.

Ye Olde Go-To Teva Mid-Calf Waterproof Boots

Personally, I’m a U.S. 7.5 Wide, but my all-time favorite shoes? A pair of mid-calf Teva boots, size 8, regular width—no extra-wide calves needed! These boots are my ride-or-die in any weather, keeping my feet cozy, dry, and never too hot. After a decade of serious adventures, they’re starting to look like disheveled pirate gear, but I can’t let them go. So now, I’m on a quest to find the next pair of shoes that’ll live up to these legendary boots! Teva boots are always a try, but I've recently added Jambu, Journee Collection, Comfortiva, and the occasional wide width dress sandal or flat produced by other brands to my collection. I live in the city, so it's of the utmost importance that I can walk at least a mile in my own shoes—without getting blisters or hot spots.

Comfortiva Amora in Black Patent Leather

Will I ever wear heels to teach? Heell no! But, if you're determined to strut your stuff between classroom desks in heels, do your homework first. Take a cue from flight attendants—they’re often required to wear heels and spend hours on their feet, trekking across massive airport terminals. That’s how I discovered the Comfortiva Amora. These low, wide-heeled beauties come in a variety of colors and finishes. I can walk miles and stand for hours with barely a twinge of pain. So, if you're set on teaching in heels, these are the ones to beat!

Additionally, The Walking Company absolutely nails it when it comes to matching the perfect shoes to your specific foot needs! While pricey, you might just end up with your own pair of pirate boots ten years from now!
